I hope everyone had a lovely Spring Break!
Today in Language Arts, we had some fun with the book "How to Lose All Your Friends." It is a sarcastic "How to" story. As a class, we picked a couple funny topics and brainstormed our own ways to use humor and sarcasm in writing.
In Math, grade three began their unit on telling time. We are starting easy with digital clocks this week, and will be moving into analog clocks and real world problems involving time.
Before Spring Break, students created a visual timeline of how the land in Alberta has changed in the past 200 years. Today, students observed their work, and were asked to write about the changes they see. Then, they were challenged to think about the different perspectives that groups of people may have about the change in our lang.
Our new unit in Science is Waste in Our World. We are starting with perhaps the most important topic, which is reducing waste. Stopping waste before it even starts is the best way to deal with pollution of any kind! Parents be aware- your kiddos will probably be coming home with many new ideas to try and make life a little greener in the month of April.
Grade fours brought home an important form today. Next week, we will be starting a Health unit (for grade fours only) on body changes during puberty. Parents, please read and sign the consent form by Friday. If you have any questions, feel free to email me!
