December 3, 2020

Can you believe it is already December?! How time flies.

Grade 3's have finished up their giving project for the Mustard Seed. I will be taking their shopping lists with me to the store and picking up items to donate to the Mustard Seed on their behalf.

Today, students conducted their first of three independent experiments in our new Science unit. The big question was, "How do our shadows change throughout the day?" Have your child tell you what they learned! Now the tough part is figuring out why our shadows change the way they do depending on the time of day.

In Language Arts, we read the book Storm Boy, which is an Indigenous legend from the people of the Pacific Northwest. We discussed how totem poles are important to West Coast Indigenous culture, and learned about the different animals people use to represent their families. Students then made their own totem poles. Have your child explain to you why they chose the animals they did for their totem pole.

If you were unable to make it to the public engagement meeting about school closure last night, there will be another meeting in January. No decision will be made until the end of January. Keep an eye on your weekly updates to learn more about how to attend the next meeting.

Reminder: no school tomorrow!

Have a great long weekend.

:) Mrs Rowein
