Today at school we honored our veterans in a classroom Remembrance Day assembly. Students shared messages of peace, listened to songs about Remembrance Day, and reflected during a moment of silence. Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, so there is no school. Take time to talk to your children about the sacrifices Canadians have made for peace around the world.

In Language Arts, we have been working on a new writing strategy to add description to our writing: using sensory words. Today, students took a wordless book, and added their own description to make an interesting and descriptive story.

Over the next week or so, we will also be practicing and performing Reader's Theatre. Reader's theatre involves using actions, unique voices, and props to tell a story.

Students are almost finished their most recent Science project. They wrote newspaper articles sharing how human activity has had an impact on animal habitats. By next week, we will be finished our Science unit on animals and ready to start something new!

Today students were introduced to their new Social Studies unit on Alberta Geography. We are imagining that we are all taking a road trip across our beautiful province. Students will learn about the different regions, and journal about special sights and experiences they would have in each region. They will be putting their journal entries together with pictures and maps in a scrapbook. For homework this week, students can visit the Travel Alberta website to get a "sneak peak" at some of the cool things they will learn about on their road trip!

Reminders:

Parents can now sign up for next week's parent teacher interviews. Once again, they will be held online. If you are unable to sign up online, you can fill out the form that was sent home today.

No school tomorrow due to Remembrance Day.

Dress is stretchy pants on Friday for yoga!
